What device-first means
Core activity records stay on the device unless the user chooses backup. A dedicated RouteTracker account is not required before starting core recording.
This does not mean a backup is unnecessary. It means the default storage location and the point of external transfer remain distinct choices. App deletion, device damage, or loss still requires a separate protection plan.
The Google Drive backup boundary
Google Drive backup and restore are Plus and Pro features. After the user connects a Google account and approves the required scope, RouteTracker can save or restore an activity-record snapshot within that Drive scope.
- This is not continuous synchronization through a RouteTracker-owned cloud account.
- Check the result of a manual or configured automatic backup and its latest successful state.
- Before restore, verify the destination device and account and preserve important current records separately.
A practical device-migration check
- On the old device, confirm that recent activities are complete and open correctly in the list and detail view.
- Run backup with the intended Google account and confirm success.
- Keep especially important activities separately as GPX when practical.
- On the new device, verify the same account and intended backup before restoring.
- After restore, sample the activity count, recent records, maps, and important attachments.
Limits to check before use
- Google Drive backup and restore depend on Plus or Pro access, user authentication and approval, network connectivity, and Google Drive availability.
- A backup is a point-in-time snapshot. Changes after the last successful backup may be absent until another backup succeeds.
- Restore is not an unconditional guarantee against data loss. Confirm success and keep important GPX files separately before device replacement or app removal.
